Insanity is generally described as doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. What this means is that we tend to attempt to resolve difficult circumstances in our lives the same we did before, except that this time the result will be different in that our difficulty to be resolved and we will feel better. Then, when it doesn’t get better and our problem isn’t resolved, we do the same thing again, perhaps with more intensity, to try and solve our problem. And again, it does not work.

It was amazing to me that a little bird seemed to have the conscious awareness to understand that it would not (because it could not) escape the snare presented by that window in the walkway unless it made a “decision” to let go of its struggle and allow me to rescue it. The bird seemed to willfully “relax” his cares into the possibilities that a savior could come to the rescue and rest in the will of its savior.

That is the choice you have today. You can continue to attempt to solve your problems your way in an effort to remove the difficult obstacles from your life; or you can choose to let go and turn your obstacles and problems over to Jesus Christ who experienced the most severe of problems in order to be your rescuer as Savior of your life. How will you choose today?

  • What kinds of things would you say you have set out to accomplish as you begin your day?
  • What kinds of obstacles would you imagine you may anticipate along the way?
  • What obstacles have you run into in the past that you did not anticipate?
  • What set of problems were presented by the obstacles?
  • How did you address those problems?
  • Has confronting your problems in the past prompted you to seek God for help?
  • What did God help you to do to resolve your problems?
  • Were you able to adequately solve your problems? Explain.
  • What obstacles are presenting problems for you today?
  • What skills and expertise you would say you possess to resolve problems presented by the obstacles you are faced with?
  • Would you say that the bird the bird simply took things in stride while attempting to solve this problem, or can you see panic setting in? Explain.
  • What do you need to do to resolve the problem presented by today’s obstacles?
  • What conclusion can you draw from past experiences concerning what it takes to resolve the problems presented by the obstacles in your life, today?
  • What choices do you have today to address your problems concerning the obstacles in your life?
  • What choice are you able and willing to make today to confront your problems?

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

It is God who loves us at work in you to will and to act according to His plan and purpose for your recovery. The possibilities are endless for us who submit—surrender—our will and our life throughout each day along the journey into His care. The promise is that you cannot imagine the blessing of providence (peace, joy, security, and perhaps material blessing) God has in store for you as you come to fully believe.
