TWRAC 003 (7/26/10)

This Week’s Recovery Application Challenge is intended to expand your thinking and to challenge your perceptions of God in the person of Jesus Christ. The following questions are the application portion following up on the questions from TWIRL 003 based on the FFM Series article, Sympathetic Savior… Christ’s Humanity.

  • Apostle Paul instructs us to “imitate Christ” who humbled himself and became nothing. What did that mean for him? What does that mean for you?
  • How were the desires and intentions of human Jesus similar to your desires and intentions? How were they different?
  • Whether or not we agree that Jesus could sin, Scripture is definite that Jesus while human did not in fact sin, he was in fact tempted to sin? How would you say the temptations of Jesus were similar as a human being to the temptations you face? How were they different?
  • Identify your experiences that render life difficult for you in the areas of:

-Disappointment

-Fear

-Anger

-Frustration

-Resentment

-Failure

-Betrayal

-Rejection

-Misunderstood

-Grief

-Sadness

-Depression

-Desperation

-Abandonment

-Fatigue

-Anxiety & Stress

-Illness

-Confusion

-Relationships

-Dissatisfaction

-Pain

-Struggle

  • Go through your list and examine how the experiences of human Jesus resemble your experiences in those areas and how his experiences contrast with yours.
  • Having made these comparisons, how might you say that Jesus, today at the throne of grace, can sympathize with you?
  • Considering the compassionate merciful grace of Jesus Christ, our Sympathetic Savior, how might He advocate for you, and fight for you?
  • How might this enhance your perception of God in terms of quality of relationship with Him?
  • What will you do today to engage the reality of the Sympathetic Savior in how you think and function in your circumstances and relationships?

Take some time now and talk to God who knows you and loves you. Tell Him about the specifics in your life, and ask Him to empower you with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and above His human weakness during His time on earth. He wants so much to do that for you.
