The Beattitudes originate from the New Testament, Matthew 5:3-9<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>admit<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and or difficulties and that our lives had become unmanageable.<\/p>\n

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2<\/span>\u00a0 believe<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.<\/p>\n

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 3<\/span>\u00a0 commit<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him.<\/p>\n

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 4<\/span>\u00a0 examine<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.<\/p>\n

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 5<\/span>\u00a0 transparent<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 6<\/span>\u00a0 present<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.<\/p>\n

Step 7<\/span>\u00a0 renew<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.<\/p>\n

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 8<\/span>\u00a0 restore<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.<\/p>\n

Step 9<\/span>\u00a0 reconcile<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.<\/p>\n

Step 10<\/span>\u00a0 virtue<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrongly prompted admitted it.<\/p>\n

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 11<\/span>\u00a0 reinforce<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sought through prayer and meditation on His word to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry it out.<\/p>\n

You are the salt of the earth… You are the light<\/span> of the world… Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 12<\/span>\u00a0 move<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.<\/p>\n

The parallel drawn between the 12 steps and the beattitudes of from Matthew, chapter 5 were originated by the late Bill Elam who founded<\/span> Eleeo Ministries<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus lived out Steps 1-3<\/span><\/p>\n

I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.<\/span> John 5:30 (NLT)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1<\/span>\u00a0 admit<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We admitted we were powerless…<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“I can do nothing on my own.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2<\/span>\u00a0 believe<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Came to believe that a higher power could restore us…<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“I judge (decide) as God tells me. I judge only as I hear, and my judgment (decision) is just (correct, innocent)<\/span>.” *<\/span>
