Study of James Chapter 1<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Before beginning this study of James 1, it would be helpful to gain proper perspective by clicking on “New Age Living (and oh by the way, your feet smell)<\/span><\/a>“<\/span> to better understand who and what you are in relationship with Christ. You live in the age of resurrection into the Kingdom of Heaven, even as you live out this time on earth to please and bring glory to God. You bring glory to God since He breathed the Spirit of His glory into your daily experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

James Chapter One:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a01<\/sup>\u00a0James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,\u00a0<\/span>To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations:\u00a0<\/span>Greetings.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span>2<\/sup>\u00a0Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,\u00a0whenever you face trials of many kinds,\u00a0<\/span>3<\/sup>\u00a0because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.\u00a0<\/span>4<\/sup>\u00a0Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.\u00a0<\/span>5<\/sup>\u00a0If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.\u00a0<\/span>6<\/sup>\u00a0But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.\u00a0<\/span>7<\/sup>\u00a0That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.\u00a0<\/span>8<\/sup>\u00a0Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a09<\/sup>\u00a0Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.\u00a010<\/sup>\u00a0But the rich should take pride in their humiliation\u2014since they will pass away like a wild flower.\u00a011<\/sup>\u00a0For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a012<\/sup>\u00a0Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a013<\/sup>\u00a0When tempted, no one should say, \u201cGod is tempting me.\u201d For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;\u00a014<\/sup>\u00a0but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.\u00a015<\/sup>\u00a0Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a016<\/sup>\u00a0Don\u2019t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.\u00a017<\/sup>\u00a0Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.\u00a018<\/sup>\u00a0He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a019<\/sup>\u00a0My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,\u00a020<\/sup>\u00a0because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.\u00a021<\/sup>\u00a0Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a022<\/sup>\u00a0Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.\u00a023<\/sup>\u00a0Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror\u00a024<\/sup>and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.\u00a025<\/sup>\u00a0But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it\u2014not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it\u2014they will be blessed in what they do.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a026<\/sup>\u00a0Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.\u00a027<\/sup>\u00a0Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
