Empowered by the Sympathetic Savior<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Below are the key Scripture verses for this week’s application challenge. Three versions of the Bible are each descriptive in their own way to help us to see Jesus the man for who he was as a man so that we can better understand and appreciate what he really did for us through his death; and to gain a better grasp on who he is today advocating on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. <\/span><\/p>\n

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in\u00a0Christ Jesus,\u00a0who, although He\u00a0existed in the\u00a0form of God,\u00a0did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,\u00a0but\u00a0emptied Himself, taking the form of a\u00a0bond-servant, and\u00a0being made in the likeness of men.\u00a0Being found in appearance as a man,\u00a0He humbled Himself by becoming\u00a0obedient to the point of death, even\u00a0death on a cross. <\/strong>Philippians 2:5-8 (NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, since we have a great\u00a0high priest who has\u00a0passed through the heavens, Jesus\u00a0the Son of God, let us hold fast our\u00a0confession.\u00a0For we do not have\u00a0a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet\u00a0without sin.\u00a0Therefore let us\u00a0draw near with\u00a0confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. <\/strong>Hebrews 4:14-16 (NASB)<\/span><\/p>\n

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. <\/strong><\/span>Though he was God, <\/strong><\/span>he did not think of equality with God <\/strong><\/span>as something to cling to. <\/strong><\/span>Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; <\/strong><\/span>he took the humble position of a slave <\/strong><\/span>and was born as a human being. <\/strong><\/span>When he appeared in human form, <\/strong><\/span>he humbled himself in obedience to God <\/strong><\/span>and died a criminal\u2019s death on a cross. <\/strong>Philippians 2:5-8 (NLT)<\/span><\/p>\n

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.\u00a0This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.\u00a0So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.<\/strong> Hebrews 4:14-16 (NLT)<\/span><\/p>\n
